So I’ve just returned from the NYC Clockwork Prince release signing. There are a few pictures included in this post, but you can see a few more either on Facebook or Tumblr, depending on your preference. Cassie and Ed Westwick! What more could you ask for, right?
Well, maybe you want a copy of Clockwork Prince because you don’t have one yet. And maybe you want that copy to be signed.
Wish, receive, dear friends. Wish, receive.
You may have seen my posts on Twitter when I read Clockwork Prince back in September: This is, in my opinion, Cassie’s best book to date. Aside from the lovely characterization that we have all come to know and love, this book is subtle as it splinters your heart into pieces. And why wouldn’t I want to inflict that pain on share it with all of you?
It’s nearly 2 AM. I know that a lot of people out there are still reading Clockwork Prince and I have a strict no-spoiler rule about me, so I’m not going to say anything more until tomorrow afternoon (when you can bet your bottom dollar there will be a well-marked, spoiler-filled, angst-ridden post on this very website). But I am going to give y’all the opportunity to get your hands on the copy I had Cassie sign at the event tonight.
So who wants it? It’s as simple as commenting on this post before Tuesday, December 13 at 11:59 PM ET! If you want a second entry, you can post about this giveaway (here’s a short link: http://dft.ba/-cpga ) on Twitter and/or Tumblr and link to said post in your comment. Look at that! Three shots at winning. And it’s very pretty (and shiny!).
Names will be entered into a spreadsheet and the winner will be picked by a random number generator.
Please, please, please make sure you are either registered on MundieSource or that you include your e-mail in your comment! If you win, I need to contact you! If I contact you and you do not respond within one week, the prize will go to someone else. You’d think this wouldn’t happen, but it has happened several times!
As with all of MS.net’s giveaways, this is open internationally.
If you’re already reading CP: Enjoy!
If you’re not yet: What are you waiting for? Grab a box of tissues and get going!
EDIT: The contest is now closed! The winner has been notified! If she does not respond within seven days, I will move on to the next person! Thank you all for participating!
Reelz Channel recently sat down for a video interview with Cassie. Prior to the interview, they took a bunch of questions from fans. It’s pretty informative, so you should check it out! She talks about the screenplay, Alex Pettyfer, and how she feels confident that the movie is in good hands! And don’t forget to check back on Monday for the winner of the Blatantly Too Old Casting Contest and look for the new Movie Monday blog!
And now that you’ve seen it, how are you feeling about the movie? Better, now that you know most of the important things remain in tact? Let us know in the comments!
Alright, everyone. We are all anxious about the imminent casting of a certain Jace Wayland Morgenstern Lightwood. The other characters also need to be cast, but more faces seem to pop up for Jace than any other character. And, of course, this attention is well-deserved because Jace is… well… hot. People like to play Which Hot Actor Should Play Jace Today?, Cassie included.
These are some of the lovely young men who are being pegged by fans as our favorite golden boy:
An attractive group of young men, yes/yes? We all know that Alex Pettyfer (number four, harhar) has been offered the role. Unfortunately for Pettyfer enthusiasts, he hasn’t accepted yet. He recently had a phone conversation with Cassie, but who knows what happened there.
I started thinking: Will we ever have our perfect Jace?
And then I was watching Robin Hood: Men in Tights while pondering this very question and, fans, I found him! Of course, he’s currently 48 years old, so here’s my simple solution: A time machine.
There are a lot of actors who are blatantly too old to play Jace. There are a lot of actors who are too old for a lot of parts. But if we could get a time machine, we could totally cast Cary Elwes as Jace. Take this scene, for example. Cary has mastered the art of badassery. And over here, we have Cary as both the romantic lead and King of Snark. So if anyone has a time machine, we’ll just go back to the 80′s, swipe Mr. Elwes from the set of Another Country (and while we’re there, let’s also swipe a certain Mr. Colin Firth) and tell him we’ve got the perfect role for him.
At least, he’s my Blatantly Too Old pick for Jace. Who is yours? Let’s have a little contest to make it even more fun. There’s a bookmark in it (courtesy of Viviane Hebel) for someone who leaves a comment below with a Too-Old pick for Jace. I’ll choose a winner randomly on April 18.
First and foremost, today is the day! Last weekend, I asked you to participate in the Harry Potter Alliance‘s Borders Day to raise money for a Brooklyn charter school’s library. You didn’t disappoint! Those of you who submitted receipts spent more than $300 combined, a percentage of which will go from Borders to the school’s library. Awesome, right?
The winner was generated by a random number generator and will receive a signed, personalized copy of City of Fallen Angels (the edition from B&N that has the letter from Jace to Clary) shortly after Cassandra Clare’s May 3rd signing in NYC.
The winner is…

SAMANTHA! I’ll be e-mailing you right after this post to get your information. Congrats!
And now on to other fun things!
As we all know, CoFA will be released next Tuesday. For a while now, we’ve been talking on Twitter about different things we’d love to see in the trending topics. #Jace, #CoFA, #MaxIronsForJace, to name a few. Well, next Monday is the night we’re going to make #COFA happen!
At 8 PM EST on Apirl 4, 2011, Mundie Source will be hosting a COFA release party on Twitter. I’m still working out whether to use BlogTV or Livestream to lead discussions and chats and trending strategy, so check the Mundie Source twitter and here on MS for information closer to the day of the party. In order to get COFA on the trending topics, we’ll need a lot of people in a lot of places, so we’re going to have to spread this around like wildfire!
COFA Release Twitter Party Information:
Even though the party officially begins at 8 EST, feel free to use the hashtag all day!
Please, please, please tag all tweets between 8 PM and midnight with #COFA.
Twitter trending topics are based on volume of unique tweets and how far the hashtag spreads around the world. For us to really get #COFA trending, we’ll have to have a lot of people tweeting unique tweets with #COFA as the tag. I’ll explain this more next Sunday.
Invite your friends to join in and be part of something awesome!
There will be prizes, including another signed copy of COFA to be sent out after Cassie’s May 3rd signing in NYC, for people participating in the twitter party.
We will also be having a discussion about expectations and predictions for COFA, dream casting for the movie, and other fun topics that fans bring up!
Follow @MundieSource to keep up with further information and make sure you’re online next Monday to join in the festivities and count down to COFA!
Yes, you read that right! As you all know, City of Fallen Angels will be released on April 5, 2011. It is under a strict embargo, so I obviously can’t give one away and send it out now, but read on to find out how a personalized, signed copy of COFA can be yours!
Most of you probably don’t know that I am a volunteer for the Harry Potter Alliance, an organization that strives to do good things in the name of Harry Potter. We have raised money for disaster relief, collected more than 50,000 book donations, and continue to work toward a better world each day.
During March, we at the HPA are working to collect books for a charter school in Brooklyn that lacks a library. While we are sure we will be successful in getting a ton of books for the children at this school, we are also hoping to go one step further and help them make this library a reality–by giving them money for shelves and other necessities.
Where do you come in, you may ask?
This coming weekend (March 19 & 20), the HPA has partnered with Borders. For every purchase made with this coupon (which can be used both online and in stores), Borders will donate a portion of the money from that purchase to the HPA, which we will then turn around and give to the school.
You can order something online (pre-order COFA! Buy Clockwork Angel! Etc.!) or head to a Borders store and get yourself a latte. Any purchase made with the coupon will help build this school a library, no matter what size. When you make your purchase, keep your receipt. Take a picture or scan it in and send an e-mail to Submissions @ Mundiesource . net (without the spaces) with Borders Day in the subject line. If you just want to show the date on the receipt, that’s fine, too. As long as it is a purchase made on those two days, I’ll assume you’re not lying about using the coupon. Online orders are the same–just copy and paste whatever you feel proves your purchase.
You have until March 26th e-mail proof that you used the coupon. On the 27th, I’ll announce the winner. The winner is promised a copy of COFA, signed and personalized by Cassandra Clare when she comes to NYC on May 3 (tentative date). It will be mailed out as soon as it is signed.
Unfortunately, this contest is only open to US residents. But I have other things coming up that will be open internationally, so don’t fret, overseas fans!
If you have any questions, leave them below. I tried to be as clear as possible, but something here may be confusing.
Hebel Design is doing a Valentine’s giveaway once she reaches 500 followers on Twitter. The prize–a “love” rune ring pictured left–will be given away to one of her followers who tweets @HebelDesign using the hashtag #LoveGiveaway.
For every 50 followers she gets over 500, she will increase the prizes. So if she gets 550 followers, there will be two rings to be given away, 3 rings for 600, etc.
The contest officially begins on February 7th, so don’t send your tweets just yet! But everyone should go follow @HebelDesign on Twitter. (And tell her that @mundiesource/@dorothydonne sent you )
If you had no idea that this fantastic Mortal Instruments / Infernal Devices inspired jewelry existed, I feel sorry for you. You should go here and see all the awesomeness that has been created.
Sorry for the double post today (and that this isn’t Jace casting news, which you all seem to want desperately). But hey, you all like contests, right? So get going!

You guys probably know that Reelz Channel has been very kind to Mundie Source! They let me know when they’re posting articles about the Mortal Instruments movies so that I can link to them and spread the news, they’ve contacted me about guest blogging about the series, etc. And now they’re running a contest on Facebook for fans of this page. The first contest is for a $25 Fandango gift card (Free movies!) and they’re going to do a new drawing for every 100 new fans of the page.
Future prizes for fans of the page will include things like Harry Potter chess sets, Wolverine and X-Men episode box sets, holiday DVD sets, and more! So if you like movies, it would definitely be in your best interest to go follow this page on Facebook so you can potentially win really cool things. Plus, it seems like they’ve got some neat things going on and you’ll be super up-to-date with movie trailers!
Thank you to everyone who entered the relaunch contest! There were more than fifty entries (some people didn’t comment on the post–just registered) and a lot of you really took advantage of the extra entries you could get by Tweeting and spreading the word! I wish I could give you all prizes, but alas, I am a poor college student.
The winner will receive the prize pack pictured to the right. It’s a signed City of Glass bookplate, Mortal Instruments journal with artwork by Val Freire, and a somewhat rare Mortal Instruments postcard, also with artwork by Ms. Freire.
And the winner is…

To everyone else: Thank you so much for entering and supporting Mundie Source. I hope to continue to be your #1 source for Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices news–especially as we move into the early stages of the filmmaking process with The Mortal Instruments movies.
In case anyone hadn’t noticed the severe lack of updates here at MS over the last few months, here’s what’s been going on:
SITEFAIL. I was having a lot of trouble with the coding of the old page–specifically the news component–and have been trying to fix it for a while. It was getting spammed and it was just a mess. It was kind of embarrassing. But we are officially switched over to WordPress, and things are running smoother than ever! (Seriously. Ever.)
So! Since I’ve been an awful webmaster for the last few months, let me tell you about the things that are new and shiny:
All of Cassie’s pages are complete.
TMI book page is now complete with placeholder covers for the next three books.
TMI characters are now represented with character art by Val Freire.
TMI Graphic Novel page is up with all the images we have so far.
Updating TMI character bios to make them CoG-compliant.
TMI quotes from the end of CoB and on.
TID character bios.
TID quotes.
One anthology is missing.
The things I’m missing are mostly content things–and I could use Content Contributors to help out with that! Apply here.
And a relaunch giveaway? Of course.
The prize is a little prize pack made up of a blank journal with Clary, Jace, and Simon with artwork by Val Freire (pictured right) along with a TMI postcard and signed City of Glass bookplate. How can you win it? Like this:
